Parish Records

Because parish Communion records are listed by village and farm names and because farm names often were used as a part of a person’s name, it is interesting to note the following farms. HisKi project findings were used as a starting point to identify parish villages.  Then Parish Communion Records of 1873 – 1882 were used to confirm village and identify farm names. 6, 7 & 8

Parish Church

St. Andrew’s Church 1, 2 & 3

  • First built during the 14th and 15th century, rebuilt in the 18th century (1920 – 1922)
  • One of the oldest stone churches in Finland
  • Functioned in the past as a place for civilian protection and defense
