Parish Records
Because parish Communion records are listed by village and farm name and because farm names often were used as a part of a person’s name, it is interesting to note the following farms. HisKi project findings were used as a starting point to identify parish villages. Then Parish Communion Records of 1880–1889 were used to confirm villages and identify farm names. 11, 12

Parish History
- Became a chapel parish under the Karis Parish in 1809
- Was its own independent parish from 1915 to 1977 3, 10
Raseborg Castle

The Raseborg castle was built in the 1370s. At that time, the castle was surrounded by water and the perfect location for defense and commerce at the Gulf of Finland. The castle functioned as a trade center and a military base for Västra (western) Nyland.
In the 15th century Swedish King Charles VIII and his court lived at Raseborg Castle.

Near the castle was a small neighboring village called Tuna. It was a well-off community and many of the residents worked for the castle. That was the beginning of the Snappertuna Parish.
