Sund

Parish Records

Because parish Communion records are listed by farm name and because farm names often were used as a part of a person’s name, it is interesting to note the following farms. HisKi project findings were used as a starting point to identify parish villages.  Then Parish Communion Records of 1858 -1864 and Land Records were used to confirm village and identify farm names.12, 13, 14   .

Of Interest

Kastelholm

“This structure was originally used as a defense stronghold at the end of the 1300’s.  It was re-built several times until the end of the 1600’s.  After that time, the castle was left to dilapidate. (It has now been restored and is open for visitors.)” 1,
