Parish Records

Because countryside parish Communion records are listed by village and farm names and because farm names often were used as a part of a person’s name, it is interesting to note the following farms.

HisKi project findings were used as a starting point to identify parish villages.  Then Parish Communion Records of 1882–1891 were used to confirm village and identify  farm names.

  • The 1859 – 1865 Ingå Parish records include the villages that later formed the Degerby parish.
  • Villages that became a part of the Degerby parish in 1923 are not included the Ingå parish records of 1866-1872, 1873-1882,  and 1882-1891.
  • If you are researching someone from Ingå between 1866 – 1923 and are unable to locate their village, try looking in the Degerby parish records.

This map of Ingå Parish from 1938 displays on the HisKi project website, made available by the Genealogical Society of Finland. 7
