Skogsägarna Österbotten Bringing Tour to the Pacific Northwest

A little over a year ago Skogsägarna Österbotten contacted SFHS about providing assistance with a tour that they were planning. They wanted a tour that would include modern forestry practices, heritage logging, and the Swedish Finn emigrant experience.  Never has any organization been so prepared to give such assistance. After months and months of planning on both continents the tour is about to begin.

The group has a busy trip ahead of them. Their activities range from shovel and cable logging demonstrations to visiting the Erickson farm in Independence, Washington. Their travels will take them from Mt. St. Helens to Victoria Island, British Columbia and from Walla Walla to Port Angeles.

To kick off their tour, on September 18th, we are holding a reception dinner for our friends from Finland. Our night of tall tales and logging songs from the Pacific Northwest will be a fun night. Please join us in welcoming our guests.
