Other Information
Edla S. Koski (nee "Vutala" Viitala) died of CVA with dementia at Northern State Hospital 6 June 1922 or McMurray, Skagit Co., WA. On her death records, it was thought she was born in Finland in January 1864. She is buried at the McMurray cemetery in Mount Vernon, Skagit Co. Edla Serafia Jaakkontytär VIITALA was born in Teuva on 12 Nov. 1863. She was daughter of Jakop/ Jaakko Kaarlenpoika Hannula / Wiitala / Viitala (b. 8 Oct. 1826) and Anna Matintytär/ Mattsdotter Peltoski (b. 24 Nov. 1828).She was the wife of John J. Koski, who was born 30 Nov. 1859 and named Johan Jakop/ Juho Jaakko Johansson/ Johanpoika UITTO/ UITTOKOSKI in Järvinpäa, Jurva, Finland. The couple married in 1885 in Jurva, although there are sources stated Janakkala, Häme. I think this is incorrect. Their eldest son and first child was Sylvester, born 9 Jan. 1887 at Peltokoski farm, Järvenpäa, Jurva, Finland. Juho Jakop Uitto immigrated in 1887. His wife Edla S. Uitto and son Sylvester obtained passport number 627 on 13 Sep. 1894 for her and her son to immigrate and rejoin her husband, now "John J. Koski" in Washington State. Her other children include Oscar Koski (b. 24 Mar. 1897 McMurray, Skagit Co., WA)Alma Koski (b. 20 Feb. 1902 McMurray, Skagit Co., WA)Hulda Koski / McGibbon (b. 9 Sep. 1903 McMurray, Skagit Co., WA)Arvid Koski (b. 7 Feb. 1908 McMurray, Skagit Co., WA)Sylvester Koski married Nellie Elizabeth Carlson in Skagit Co., WA 9 Jan. 1913.John J. Koski died in 1944.
