His father was listed as John A. Kaartman. His mother was "Nalpour Nornta" or "Valpour Vorta."This man appears to be the John Kaartinen born 19 Nov. 1881 in Jyväskylä who immigrated in November/ December 1902 via Glasgow, Scotland, UK to NYC, NY. He married Ida Mary Tomlin of Kalamazoo, MI sometime in 1906 or 1907. They resided in Bangor, Kitsap Co., WA. The couple had three children. Two of the children survived: Lena / Helen Kaartinen Lampe, born 4 mar. 1908 and "Victor" or possibly Wilbert/ Wilbur, born in 1909. On the 1910 U.S. Federal Census for Pearson, Kitsap Co., WA, lines 58 through 61 are listed John Kaartinen, head of household, 28-years old, from Finland, married for 3 years. Born in Finland of Finnish parents, he immigrated in 1902. He is a carpenter and house builder. His 24-year old Michigan-born wife, Ida is of Finnish descent.
